Topics: PAS 700, ICT, ICT continuity, IT service mgt
It's difficult enough planning to move offices without having to worry whether there will be enough phone lines. Or wondering if the ICT infrastructure will be able to handle broadband connections for dozens of employees. Considerations such as these, covering a range of potential unexpected costs, have become significant for organizations choosing to relocate.
PAS 700 Provision of ICT facilities and services in workplaces. Specification outlines the requirements for the provision of ICT facilities and services in a workplace. The standard divides ICT facilities and services in workplaces into layers, from the characteristics and facilities of the building itself and their suitability for ICT to essential services such as telephone and internet connections and their related support.
This can help identify which ICT facilities and services have already been implemented in a given workplace and help determine whether they meet the requirements of this PAS. For any organization considering a move, PAS 700 could help assess the ease of deployment, extent, usability, reliability and flexibility of ICT facilities and services in a potential workplace.
