ComplytoSupply™

21 Oct 2008
Topics: Supply chain, Social accountability, SA8000, Sedex

Following extensive trials, BSI Management Systems is now offering an end-to-end Global Second Party Compliance service - called ComplytoSupply™ - to help large multinationals manage risk across multiple sites and global supply chains. These organizations may not know details about their suppliers' ethical status or management systems, especially those based in developing countries with minimal standardization. Under such circumstances, a certification-based approach to compliance is not always on the cards.

This service therefore offers an intermediate compliance audit against known standards - eg food safety, information security, quality, environment, and health and safety - or a company's own codes of practice or standards. These can also include checks against the internationally-recognized social accountability standard, SA8000 or other recognized ethical trade audits such as the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex) and the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI).

ComplytoSupply™ is a tailored service, according to the needs of the client. It helps businesses monitor and manage the working practices of suppliers, and a company's own working practices. Audit results are uploaded to the BSI Portal, a unique, client-specific website that allows individual companies to view relevant assessment data, such as audit reports and non-conformance status online.

Clear thinking for consortia

While there was a time when companies would never consider working alongside the competition, today's marketplace demands a more flexible approach. Collaboration is fast becoming par for the course. For example, large government contracts often require expertise that goes far beyond any one company's capacity to deliver. Forming a consortium brings together the right experience in the right place, and it can mean the difference between winning or losing a tender.
