BSI Management Systems has been awarded global ISO/IEC 17021 accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board in the US. ISO/IEC 17021 provides requirements and principles for competence and impartiality for certification bodies to follow when delivering management system certification. BSI implemented the standard in advance of the 15 September 2008 deadline imposed by ISO and the International Accreditation Forum, the body that oversees all national accreditation bodies for all certification bodies. Accreditation places rigorous requirements for competence and impartiality on certification bodies that offer audit and certification to management system standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. It verifies that a certification body is competent to deliver assessment services. BSI's ISO/IEC 17021 accreditation provides its clients with the assurance that it continues to operate according to international criteria.
