The Live Group plc, the communications and event management company, along with all its subsidiary companies, business units and central departments, have now been awarded full certification to ISO 9001. This followed a comprehensive assessment process that began in December 2007 and was completed with the latest appraisal in February 2008. The Group manages approx 400 events each year - mainly for the public sector.
"Our company has been committed to developing a quality management system for many years," explains Tamasine Early, strategic operations director with The Live Group. "Recently, we committed ourselves to ISO standards since they recognized the good work we felt we had achieved in establishing robust company procedures. Our clients are increasingly asking for formal verification of quality standards - and we are pleased to be able to offer this reassurance while also demonstrating that we are improving year on year.
"One of the most heartening and uplifting aspects of the assessment process was the feedback from the BSI assessors, who told us that they had never before seen a company so tightly integrated, so team focused and so motivated to offer exceptional customer service."
She adds that the assessors were "surprised by the sophistication of our internal systems and processes", most of which were designed and developed internally.
"They are based on single data entry and data sharing, so this reflects our team-based culture and commitment to efficiency and customer drive. Their positive comments simply added fuel to our fire, and drove us on further. " The Group is now working hard on achieving certification to ISO/IEC 27001 for information security.

More than 100 years after BSI was founded - based in part on its work on the standardization of tramway rails - the Group continues to work with the railway industry to maintain and improve its services and equipment. BSI does so by providing assessment and certification services against IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard), the quality standard for the railway industry.

Question: We are under increasing pressure to comply with a growing number of regulations and to maintain growth - while under greater scrutiny than ever before. How can this be good for business?
We are all in the risk management business. In the current climate, as consumers we are encouraged to claim compensation or sue for damages for almost any negative incident we encounter.
