Topics: BS 25999, Business continuity, Spain
In its aim to provide clients with the best level of service and to guarantee continuity of operations, GMV - a leading technology consultancy - has been awarded certification to the business continuity management standard BS 25999. GMV becomes only the second company in Spain to receive the certification and the first in the consulting industry. This certification follows similar awards received for quality management (ISO 9001), IT service management (ISO/IEC 20000) and information security management (ISO/IEC 27001) for which it was also the first in its sector in 2004.
The certification ensures the continuity of their service in the unlikely event of being faced with a disruption to their operations. It therefore provides their clients with the confidence and assurance needed in order to successfully continue to operate their own business.
The certification covers GMV's consulting services and training, engineering, security, R&D, software development, and the integration and maintenance of ICT-based systems.
GMV were presented with their certificate during BSI's 3rd International Business Continuity Conference in Madrid and Barcelona in May 2010. Márcio Viegas, Managing Director of BSI Spain gave the award to Luis Fernando Alvarez- Gascón Pérez, Managing Director of GMV.

Until now, there has been no strict guidance in the UK relating to how audiovisual (AV) installations are carried out. This includes everything from computers and projectors to interactive whiteboards, plasma screens and loud speakers. For AV installation companies, processes can vary significantly.
While there was a time when companies would never consider working alongside the competition, today's marketplace demands a more flexible approach. Collaboration is fast becoming par for the course. For example, large government contracts often require expertise that goes far beyond any one company's capacity to deliver. Forming a consortium brings together the right experience in the right place, and it can mean the difference between winning or losing a tender.

We are under increasing pressure to comply with a growing number of regulations and to maintain growth - while under greater scrutiny than ever before. How can this be good for business?
We are all in the risk management business. In the current climate, as consumers we are encouraged to claim compensation or sue for damages for almost any negative incident we encounter.
