In February 2009, the 26th meeting of ISO/TC 176 was held at the Tokyo International Forum in Tokyo, Japan.
On the agenda was the revision of ISO 9004, which provides guidance on how organizations can continually improve their quality management system. The standard, which is now titled Managing for the sustained success of an organization - A quality management approach, is nearing completion and many comments were reviewed during the meeting.

The recently published ISO Survey of Certifications - 2005 offers insight into the role played by standards around the world. It reveals that ISO 9001:2000 is still the globally accepted standard for quality of goods and services in supplier-customer relations.
Question: Given the state of the environment, should issues like energy management in business be more regulated and closely monitored instead of voluntary?
Climate change is such an urgent issue that some might argue the only answer to this question is "Yes". However, creating laws that achieve their goals in precisely the right way is challenging and time consuming at the best of times. And when it comes to climate change, the factors involved are varied - too many for any one law or set of laws to cover adequately.
